The seven stages of the film are filled by the portraits of seven women – a young rebel, an active artist, a gambler, a determined dancer, a resigned mother, an alternative believer and a lonely old woman. Their journeys through life intersect at a railway station just like the routes of the trains passing through it, so as to make the eighth stop at this place an unexpected celebration of the joy of movement.
The Waiting Room rises beyond genre and type classifications. It puts the relation to the characters, the desire to get closer and touch their true nature above them.
